1. Where is the furniture constructed?
Kate Madison specializes in French Country Furniture inspired by the 1800s. Each item is hand-built and finished by our cabinetmakers and finishers in Canada.

2. What is the furniture made of?
We use 100% solid wood, never any pressboards, veneers, or artificial woods. Each piece of furniture is constructed of solid pine: Chairs are made with a mixture of Maple, Ash, and Beechwood, table legs are made of Maple. The pieces are designed to have an antiqued appearance when using our milk-paint finishes.

3. How is the furniture finished?
All pieces are finished using top-quality Milk Paint, the traditional way antique furniture was finished. Each item is then distressed to give it an antiqued look. The milk paint our finishers use is a liquid-base paint that is considered a better quality than other milk paints. We stain tops and interiors of all items unless otherwide instructed.

5. Can a piece of furniture be customized?
Yes, a design specialist will work with you to design a piece of furniture to meet your needs. For an additional charge, we can build existing pieces to different size and scale. For more information, please call (800) 931-5283 or email the specifications to customerservice@katemadison.com

6. How do you figure out shipping charges?
Kate Madison works with a Fine Furniture Delivery company that specializes in transporting specialty furniture. Each piece is pad-wrapped to avoid damages that may occur when shipping using traditional freight methods. All items are delivered inside your home to your desired location. The cost to ship an item is based on your order total. (Kate Madison does not make money on shipping/handling, the charges are simply the cost to get the item to you in top condition.

7. I’m redesigning a room, can I get pieces to match?
Absolutely, we work with individuals who are redesigning every room of the house. We can help make decisions on furniture and finishes that would work together. For more information, please email customerservice@katemadison.com or call (207) 967-8989.

8. How long will it take to receive my purchases?
Since most of our merchandise is made on demand and finished by a craftsperson, we take special care to make sure each item is made right. For this reason, an order takes about 4 to 5 weeks to fulfill, the ordered items are then passed off to our delivery company and scheduled for transport to arrive at your home.

Order delivery timeframes are generally 8-10 weeks for most areas East of the Mississippi. In areas that are West of the Mississippi, delivery is 10-12 weeks.

9. What if an item arrives damaged?
Upon arrival, every item should be inspected for damage. In the rare event that an item is damaged during shipping, the delivery service will ship the item back to us at no cost to you. We will offer to either refund your money, or, we can leave the item behind for you to use while we make a replacement item. We will then swap out the new piece and the old piece.

10. What if I don’t like the item?
Returns or exchanges are available for only those items that may have sustained transport damage, or have some quality issue. We stand by our furniture, if you are not pleased with an item please contact us as soon as possible so that we may determine the issue. In some instances, a restocking fee of 15% may apply. We regret that shipping charges cannot be refunded.
